Among the reasons why some businesses call in management consultants, there is one that has some legitimacy. It is what has become known as “an extra pair of hands.” It simply means Steel Folding Steps that the company knows what it wants to do and wants to do it, but for one reason or another doesn’t have anyone it can spare to actually accomplish it.
For management consultants, this kind of work makes for an early Christmas because so often it’s difficult to persuade companies to use them at all. For companies, it can be a very expensive to acquire temporary help.
So the real question must be, what other ways are there to obtain the extra pair of hands needed without resorting to the expense of paying a management consultant for the privilege? The answer depends largely on the nature of the work that’s required.
There are at least three possible solutions:
First, contact your local university business school and ask them if there’s a graduate student who would be interested in doing some work in the office or department where the additional help is required. This can be an effective approach for many reasons. One is stainless steel pulls that graduate students are normally short of money. Another is that you can be quite sure that you’ll get someone who will do his or her very best. Education at the level requires a commitment that is far above any that undergraduates have to make. A third reason is that if you think you may need to actually hire someone in the future, this will give a chance to evaluate someone without spending a fortune to do it.
